Connect Backdocket to Microsoft 365 Copilot

Use Backdocket in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, Researcher, and other Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences.

Connect

1. Your Microsoft 365 administrator approves the Backdocket connector for your organization in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

2. In Copilot Chat, turn on the Backdocket connector as a source.

3. Sign in with your own Backdocket account when the assistant opens the Backdocket sign-in page, and approve access.

4. Ask a question about your firm’s data.

Requirements

  • An active Backdocket account.
  • A Microsoft 365 Copilot license or Copilot Chat access for your organization.

Tips

  • If your Copilot lets you choose a model, we recommend a Claude model for the most reliable answers from Backdocket.

Example prompts

  • “Using Backdocket, how many open cases does the firm have, broken down by case type?”
  • “In Backdocket, how many cases is each attorney handling?”
  • “Summarize the Backdocket case Smith_John_AA.”
  • “Which Backdocket tasks are past due, and who are they assigned to?”
  • “Which Backdocket cases have had suit filed?”

Security and permissions

  • Each user signs in with their own Backdocket account.
  • Copilot sees only what that user is already permitted to see in Backdocket, and only for their own firm.
  • The connector is read-only. Copilot looks up your data; it does not create or change records.
  • You can disconnect Backdocket at any time from your assistant’s connector settings.
