Connect Backdocket to Your AI Assistant

Backdocket works with the AI assistant your firm already uses. Connect it once, then ask about your cases, caseload, tasks, and contacts in plain language, and update records when you ask it to.

Setup by assistant

What you can do

  • Find cases by client name, case number, status, date, or other fields
  • Summarize a case: status, assigned staff, key dates, treatment, and related contacts
  • Count your caseload by case type, attorney, or status
  • Review open and past-due tasks and deadlines
  • Look up contacts and the cases they are connected to
  • Update records, such as tasks and notes, when you ask

Requirements

  • An active Backdocket account. Backdocket is a paid subscription.
  • An AI assistant that supports remote MCP connectors with sign-in.
  • Available in English only.

How to connect

Every assistant follows the same process. Menu names differ between assistants and change over time, so look for your assistant’s connectors, apps, or integrations settings.

1. Add Backdocket. Find Backdocket in your assistant’s directory of connectors or apps. If it isn’t listed, add a custom connector with the server URL https://ai.backdocket.com/mcp.

2. Get approval if your organization requires it. On business plans, an administrator may need to approve or add the connector for the organization first.

3. Sign in. Sign in with your own Backdocket account when the assistant opens the Backdocket sign-in page, and approve access.

4. Turn it on and ask. Make sure Backdocket is enabled in your conversation, then ask about your firm’s data.

Example prompts

  • “Using Backdocket, how many open cases does the firm have, broken down by case type?”
  • “In Backdocket, how many cases is each attorney handling?”
  • “Summarize the Backdocket case Smith_John_AA.”
  • “Which Backdocket tasks are past due, and who are they assigned to?”
  • “Which Backdocket cases have had suit filed?”

Security and permissions

  • Each user signs in with their own Backdocket account.
  • The assistant sees and changes only what that user is already permitted to see and change in Backdocket, and only for their own firm.
  • Emails and text messages are not sent without the user’s explicit approval.
  • You can disconnect Backdocket at any time from your assistant’s connector settings.
